Waste Clearance Owner Arrested for burning and burying waste

Waste Clearance London-The proprietor of a local waste clearance company has been apprehended and arraigned for diverse offenses involving illegal burning and burying of waste in Wayne County.

 Joseph Bunell, 50 was arrested last Friday by authorities from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. Bunnel owns the Bunnell Waste Removal at 257 Tryon Street in Honesdale. Based on the complaint, Bunnel was charged with obtaining money from clients while not properly dumping their garbage. 

 Attorney General Linda Kelly said Bunnell allegedly provided customers with bogus landfill weigh tickets which falsely indicated their buried and burned waste had been disposed of at a landfill. 

 The documents was gathered by Donald A. Hentz Jr., a special agent with the Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Environmental Crimes Section. Hentz said in October 2011, he interviewed someone who had worked at Bunnell for about six years. 

The employee said that he was directed by Bunnell or BWR supervisory employee Jody Rickert to transport waste to one of the two sites in Wayne County. He said waste was transported to the Tryon Street site in Honesdale where it was sorted by Bunnell employees and then burned or taken to the Keystone landfill in Dunmore. 

 The complaint says that waste was "driven up the hill at Tryon Street" by employees "early in the morning and burned primarily on foggy/rainy days." 

 The agent also interviewed a 20-year employee of Bunnell who said that approximately four to six loads of trash at a time were dumped at Tryon Street and sorted by laborers. He said all wood, cardboard and tires were separated out to be burned at the site. The affidavit also said that local fire departments were frequently called to the site to put out trash fires.

 In December of 2011, the agent interviewed Don Hiller of the Seelyville Fire Department. Hiller told Hentz he was aware Bunnell had been burning waste on Tryon Street "for approximately five to seven years." Hiller told investigators he remembered a specific incident on March 22, 2010, where he observed a pile of burning debris approximately 60 feet by 60 feet with flames 30 to 40 feet in the air. He described the debris as "construction and demolition waste consisting of beams, lumber, shingles, etc." 

 The agent also interviewed Department of Environmental Protection Solid Waste Specialist Mike Lucsky, who first began inspecting the Bunnell facility in 2004. Lucsky said he made numerous visits to the site and saw evidence of the processing, burning and burial of waste without DEP permits. He said several notices of violations and compliance have been issued to Bunnell for solid waste violations on Tryon Street. A compliance order issued in March 2011 required removal of burned and buried waste. Lucsky monitored the cleanup of the Tryon Street property, including the extraction of 240 tons of burned and buried waste that was ultimately disposed of at the Keystone Sanitary Landfill.  

In November 2011, the agent interviewed another employee of Bunnell, who said he was ordered to take roll-offs of waste to Tryon Street to be sorted and/or burned and he was additionally told to deliver construction and demolition waste to the Hunt property in northern Wayne County. 

 In February 2012, agents executed a search warrant at the Hunt property. During the search, it was learned that Bunnell had paid $200 per load to dump waste at the Hunt property in northern Wayne County. During the search, areas identified by witnesses were excavated and searched. Extensive burned areas were observed and buried waste was excavated, including construction and demolition waste, household items and ash. DEP officials said they had not issued any permit for allowing disposal of solid waste at the Hunt property. 

 During another interview in January 2012, officials learned that Bunnell Waste never had any scales to weigh waste. The weights of the roll-offs were either estimated or determined at the Wayne County Recycling Center, the investigators were told. Investigators also learned that Bunnell Waste staff members copied unrelated Keystone Sanitary Landfill weigh tickets that would "then be altered by changing information, including customer name, account number, vehicle code, date and time of transaction." It states the altered weigh tickets were provided to Bunnell customers with billing/invoice documents. "Customers were billed on the false weight on the altered Keystone Sanitary Landfill weigh tickets," stated the affidavit.

 In August 2012, investigators interviewed Susan L. Mang, office manager of Bunnell Waste. Mang told investigators that Bunnell is involved in all aspects of the company and when he is not present, it is operated by Jody Rickert. She added that during the course of the day, company drivers would call in and notify office staffof where they were and the type of load they had picked up. Then, either Joe Bunnell or Rickert directed where the loads would be taken. Loads were either returned directly to Tryon Street, taken to the Wayne County Recycling Center to be weighed and then returned to Tryon Street or delivered to the Keystone landfill for disposal. The affidavit says that loads returned to Tryon Street were either processed, burned and/or buried. In July 2012, agents interviewed Dan O'Brien, business manager for Keystone Sanitary Landfill. He said Keystone provides customers with weigh tickets documenting transactions at the landfill. He also confirmed that Bunnell Waste is a customer of the landfill. He said those tickets document the date and time of the transaction, net, gross and tare weight of the vehicle transporting the waste and location within the landfill grid system where the waste is disposed. O'Brien said he "doubted it was possible for trucks to have the same gross, net and tare weights and stated it was virtually impossible for waste to be disposed of at the landfill in the same grid on different days." Investigators reviewed 366 Bunnell weigh tickets, invoices and associated billing documents for BWR customers from Jan. 17, 2009, through May 11, 2012. 

The agent noted "numerous instances where weigh tickets contained identical information regarding gross, net and tare weights, grid location and driver's signatures." It was also determined the customers were billed in excess of $2,000 by Bunnell for proper waste disposal. 

 The agent cited various Pennsylvania codes which he alleges were violated by Bunnell. Bunnell was charged with two counts of illegal transportation, one count of illegal dumping, one count of illegal burning, one count of illegal storage, one count of theft by deception and one county of corrupt organizations. The last two counts are felonies and the other are misdemeanors.

 He was arraigned last Friday by Magisterial District Judge Ted Mikulak and was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Trish Flint, recycling officer, said: "The festive period is a time of year where a lot of waste is produced, but there are many ways in which you can take simple steps to reduce the amount of waste you put in your black bags and in turn, save money.


"Swansea Council, like all other local authorities, has to hit a Welsh Government recycling target of 52 per cent by March or face the prospect of significant fines. So we all have to do our bit."


All items at the corner shop are being sold for £1 each including electronics stuff and the proceeds goes to the educational workshop conducted by Swansea's recycling volunteers.

This November, Dell and Goodwill will be expanding their E-WASTE Computer Recycling Efforts. The program named DELL Reconnect will include HAWAII in their free Computer recycling to the population of 1.2 Million.

Volunteers and members will be adding seven more drop-off points in HAWAII to receive more than 500000 pounds of E-WASTE from computers anally. The DELL Reconnect started in 2004 and has recycled 253 Million pounds of garbage from computers.

Where To bring you’re E-Waste

Once you bring your rubbish or old computer in the drop off location. It will be evaluated if the computer can still be fixed and reuse or recycled. With Dell's careful guidelines, no harmful materials and chemicals are sent to the landfills or being transferred to other nations.

Instead, haul them out to the county’s solid waste facility (7550 Apalachee Parkway) or Marpan Recycling (6020 Woodville Highway). The county will re-purpose corrugated plastic signs; Marpan will bundle them off to companies that do recycle these materials.

My Healthy Green Mixed Vegetables

I always believe that I am a good cook but never found the courage of blogging it.Actually I came from a family who loves to eat and boasting each others specialty cooking during the weekend lunch together.

It was a secret competition among siblings while my father is reading the Texas News or watching Kevin Durant and my mother is busy on her backyard garden but since most blog hops is about healthy lifestyle I am showing you my hidden talent.

 It is very simple vegetable recipe which anyone can do it. You can cook this 10-15 minutes tops. Most ingredients are available in your local farmers market but make sure to bring your own reusable recycle bag in order to Help the World and avoid using plastic to avoid to much rubbish going to your rubbish clearance London service. 

Find any fresh cabbage,carrots,baby corns, broccoli,bell pepper,cauliflower,sweet onions and mushrooms or just buy those that are bountiful during that season.  

Chop the vegetable to your desire shape. The more color, the better it will look so make sure to add those red bell peppers.

Pour some olive oil in the pan and wait for it to heat up and add everything and keep on stirring so that all the vegetables will be evenly cooked. If you want you can add a little water ,oyster sauce and some flour to thicken the sauce but if you won't its OK. Add some salt ,soy sauce and pepper to taste. 

Make sure all the vegetables are not overcooked.It's best to cook it when the guest have already arrived or let them help by chopping those vegetables.

They say children is the Hope of the World. Everytime I see Severn Susuki in Youtube, the girl who silenced the world in 5 minutes delivers her message I always ended up crying. I cry because I will be leaving the world to my children a World in destruction.

 Once again I cried, not for Severn speech but for Abby Goldberg, a 12 year old who secured 170,000 plus signatures for a  gubernatorial veto on her Change.org petition "Don't Let Big Plastic Bully Me!" which opposes a bill to required plastic bag manufacturers to set up recycling programs, but at the expense of municipal liberties to ban plastic bags altogether.

“I'm 12, so I've gotten that reaction: ‘She's 12, what can she do?'" Abby previously explained to the Chicago Sun-Times. "You can make a difference no matter how old you are."

The grayslake resident was surprised by Governor Pat Quinn last Saturday that he supported her petition.

"I was so excited," the Prairie Crossing Charter School eighth-grader told the Chicago Tribune Sunday. "I thanked him so many times."

The proposed law would have required manufacturers to set up recycling clearance programs, and set a goal to increase the recycling rate by 12 percent by 2015,but it would hinder retail stores to using only registered manufacturers' products and ban local municipalities from enacting their own plastic bag laws.

On Sunday, Quinn formally vetoed the proposed law, saying that it limited local municipalities and pushing back against claims from the Illinois Manufacturers Association that called the bill an opportunity for Illinois to become a national leader in recycling Rubbish Clearance London

"People are beat up with all of the chaos that is going on. That's when that voice came to and said, 'It's time.' 

"That night he start to conceptualize the birth of his now Share Fest organization. It's been six years and they are still continuing doing their objectives."

Walking and Cycling Green to the 2012 London Olympics

Imagine lighting the walkway going to the Olympic park using only just the footsteps of million spectators who will be watching the Olympic Games live.

Pavegen Systems Ltd. was task to develop this pioneering renewable technology that will be used for the foot bridge in the West Ham Station going to the Olympic Park.

Twelve energy-harvesting floor tiles that are installed in the floors that connect the West Ham Station to the Greenway walking path to the Olympic Park are predicted to accept 12 million steps and produce 72 million joules of energy during the games. This is enough to energize 10000 cellphone in one hour.

The energy derive from the floor tiles will be use to light the route for eight hours at maximum power during the night and 2/3 of the day at 50% power. It will have a surplus of 35% extra power that will be harvested by batteries to be used for backup power during maintenance.

Hugh Sumner, director of transport at the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), said, "The widespread use of energy-efficient technology is one of the main features of London 2012. "An investment of over five billion pounds has been brought forward to try and provide the best possible public transport infrastructure," said Shaun McCarthy, chair of the Commission for a Sustainable London an independent watchdog group responsible for ensuring the Games' sustainability goals are being tracked and met.

"You know everybody is cynical about public transport in London," McCarthy acknowledged. "There may be days when it does not work quite as well as we would like it to. But I think the legacy of public transport is going to be fantastic."

Melanie Nutter, director of San Francisco's Department of Environment, told Joel Schechtman on the Wall Street Journal's CIO Journal. A month ago, Apple announced that it will no longer submit its devices to the non-profit EPEAT for green certification. Because they believe that EPEAT was not hardware recycling but more on measuring toxins. Green certification was given if the products are recyclable and designed to do minimal harm to the environment and to maximize energy efficiency.

 CNET, Dara Kerr says that Apple has responded to the criticism. Apple cites its own "rigorous environmental standards" for ensuring that its products are green; as the company tells The Loop, its own standards are not those used by EPEAT. Apple spokesperson Kristin Huguet noted that Apple "leads the industry" in reporting greenhouse gas emissions via its website. The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) is a method for consumers to evaluate the effect of a product on the environment. It is assessing lifecycle environmental standards and ranks products. In order to meet the standards, recyclers need to be able to easily disassemble products, with common tools, to separate toxic components, like batteries. But the Apple products are cannot be readily taken apart as their components are glued together. "They said their design direction was no longer consistent with the EPEAT requirements," Frisbee said.

 The company did not elaborate, Frisbee said. "They were important supporters and we are disappointed that they don't want their products measured by this standard anymore." The decision of San Francisco officials to ban any Apple products to their city will have a minimal impact on the latter company. Many schools and universities are also considering to not buy any Apple products due to environmental safety concerns.

 San Francisco is "prominent in environmental circles, and many local governments from around the country look to his office for guidance on green purchasing." Many cities and counties will follow what San Francisco does, says Geiger.
