Rubbish Clearance London High Buildings A Tall Task

Rubbish Clearance London
Recycling organizations have expressed their sentiments on government officials to  intensify the recycling efforts being done on residences located on  high rise buildings  since thousands of homeowners don't have the proper venue to recycle their rubbish.

High rise residents only recycle around 10% of their garbage which is below the 43% national average for recycling.

Latest reports on most high rise residential building  recycling showed problems such as low to zero recycling and food waste collections.

Most collections sites are located at the bottom of the building which is more economical than a door to door type of rubbish clearance London but the result is a low recycling turn out.

Rubbish Removal London
Despite this problem the London waste and Recycling board through a proper implementation of their program have increased their recycling collection in London Districts. Hackney area have produces 11000 tonnes of dry recycling materials and 654 tonnes of food waste in high rise building since 2010.

The suggestions of the report is to create its own unique strategy for each tower blocks and increase the budget for recycling  to include areas outside of London.

Another suggestion is a partnership between housing business owners and recycling volunteer organization to look for vacant      areas for the implementation of  their own recycling programs.

Edward Hobson , Deputy Director of Green Alliance said : “Doing the green thing is difficult for individuals in tower blocks because often they do not have direct control over their heating, power and waste collection.

“But we should prioritize transforming this communal infrastructure as it offers real potential to engage communities and deliver significant improvements for everyone in the block.”

An estimated 390,000 flats in high rise blocks in England. Recycling programs must be done soon in order to safeguard our environment.

Moving of Furniture and Huge Cabinets tips

Removing Furniture for Cleaning

I am always having a hard time cleaning my room. With all the stuff I have to move around, I might need two more people for moving furniture. My bed and cabinet are just so heavy that I can’t even push or pull it towards the other end of my room. After realizing a couple of things, here’s what I've done with my cabinet and bed. You could also do this on some other furniture you have whenever you want to do a general cleaning on your apartment or house all by yourself or house moving.

Slide, don't lift

If you think that your furniture is too heavy, don’t even try to lift it, chances of ending on a hospital or clinic due to the snapping of your back is high. Lifting things around your house has a proper way. Bend your knees, hold the thing to be lifted with your arms, straighten your back, and move. Know your limits and always remember you’re not an Iron man. You can always hire moving companies for tough task.

Use towels and cardboard

Placing some towels or cardboard underneath your furniture would lessen the effort that you need to exert to move your furniture. It will be easy for you to push or pull your furniture without leaving any scratches on the floor. I even think that placing the furniture on a carpet would make it easier to move around the house.

Magic sliders

Push or Pull

Pushing your furniture and cabinets would seem to be easy but actually, pulling has more advantages than pushing. Pulling things around towards their perfect location, you get to see what’s on your way and you get to lead the furniture towards the right path.

Empty your cabinets and furniture

Pushing, pulling, or lifting your furniture and cabinets will be easy if it is empty. Aside from considering the weight, it will prevent your things from falling. You know what a mess it will make when things inside your cabinets falls out of place.

On a mission to turn around decline in recycling rates

FOR many residents, recycling has now become second nature.

Dutifully separating their cardboard, paper, tins, plastic, glass and garden waste from their general rubbish, thousands of people have helped fuel a steady rise in recycling – and a reduction in landfill.

You Can Now Recycle Your Cigarette Butts

Rubbish Collection London
Forget about second-hand smoke; one company wants your second-hand cigarette butts.

A new company has developed a method to get cigarette butts off San Francisco beaches and out of landfills by "upcycling" them into pellets, which will then be used to make plastic shipping pallets and other industrial products.

Recycling revolution as council to start collection of cardboard and plastic waste

RESIDENTS of North East Lincolnshire will once again be able to recycle cardboard – thanks to a £3.59-million government grant.

And – for the first time – plastics will also be collected from households as North East Lincolnshire plans a radical shake-up of the kerbside recycling scheme in the borough.

Councils recycle 53% of waste, Wales figures show

More than half of the waste collected by councils in Wales is now recycled, Welsh government figures show.

Local authorities recycled or composted 53% of waste they gathered in the three months from April to June this year.

Over the quarter, Denbighshire council had the highest rate at 60.5%, and Rhondda Cynon Taf council (RCT) had the lowest rate with 44%.

On average they recycled 50% over the year to the end of June 2012, compared to 46% for the year to July 2011.

The next highest performing local authorities over the last quarter were: Caerphilly 59.9%, Monmouthshire 58.1%, Vale of Glamorgan 57.8% and Flintshire 57.7%.

This achievement is largely the result of every local authority in Wales providing a weekly food collection service and householders embracing the system so enthusiastically”

John Griffiths AM
Environment Minister
Over the 12 months to the end of June this year, eight councils saw their recycling rates fall, with Swansea, RCT, Torfaen and Newport finishing the period with a figure below 50%.

Cardiff council's recycling rate rose five percentage points from 50% to 55% in that period.

Figures also showed the total amount of municipal waste generated in Wales has generally decreased, with the tonnage 3% lower for April to June 2012 than for the same quarter in 2011.

The amount of household waste produced per person in Wales also continued to decrease, falling to 63kg per person in April to June 2012, from 69kg per person in April to June 2011.

Environment Minister John Griffiths said: "I am delighted that Wales is now recycling or composting more than half of its municipal waste.

"These impressive statistics are the result of the hard work of Wales' local authorities, and the excellent efforts of householders in separating out their waste for recycling.

"This achievement is largely the result of every local authority in Wales providing a weekly food collection service and householders embracing the system so enthusiastically.

"Separating out food waste not only diverts significant waste away from landfill - it also makes us far more aware of the food we are wasting, which can often result in reduced waste and lower food bills."

"We must now keep the momentum going and continue to build on our recycling success so that we can meet our challenging targets of 70% recycling by 2025 and zero waste by 2050."

Mr Griffiths also launched a plan on Friday to boost recycling rates and reduce landfill from the construction and demolition industry.

RECYCLE THANKSGIVING TURKEY FAT, OIL AND GREASE

November 20, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)--With Thanksgiving here, a thought to consider is what to do with kitchen fat, oil and grease (FOG) that’s left over from all that cooking or after deep frying a turkey. Plastic Aplenty! (Or, Why Recycle?)

Almost every piece of plastic that has ever been created is still in existence today. That’s because it takes about 1000 years for a plastic bag or water bottle to decompose naturally, and a plastic milk jug takes about 1 million years.  (A latex condom takes 30.)  And as they degrade they release toxic chemicals which can’t be metabolized by flora or fauna.

Recycling Basics

Recycling Basics

Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment.

Benefits of Recycling

Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators;
Conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals;
Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to collect new raw materials;
Saves energy;
Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change;
Helps sustain the environment for future generations;
Helps create new well-paying jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries in the United States.
Steps to Recycling Materials

Recycling includes the three steps below, which create a continuous loop, represented by the familiar recycling symbol.

 Step 1: Collection and Processing

 Step 2: Manufacturing

 Step 3. Purchasing New Products Made From Recycled Materials.

Recycling in Your Own Home

Saving water

You can save water in your home by hiring a plumber to redesign your water system so that it can recycle the water to flush the toilet after you take a bath. The water from the rain barrel is also a good source of free water to flush the toilet so an eco-friendly design is all you need.

Channel the water from the shower and sink to the garden plants so that you can maximize your water waste. Make sure you use a biodegradable soap that is not harmful to the environment so that you won't have a complicated filter for your water waste.

Making a Compost

Composting is one of the best ways to recycle.All you have to do is find a bin and dump it in. A little mixing once in a while can help. Trash from your garden and food waste can go to your  compost. Try to make a hanging garden once your compost is ready or donate it to the nearest plot in your area as soil. Making compost out of your food waste can make your garbage bins fill slowly and it won't smell as bad since it only contains non-recyclable materials. Later you can add paper and napkins in your compost as it becomes more active.

E-waste Recycling

Electronic gadgets recycling are now popular. Different companies have been creating their own program to recycle electronic products. Non-profit organizations fix old but still usable computers and donate them to schools. Other companies resell your gadgets to others at a lower price for others to reuse. Cell phones donated for soldiers and senior citizen's use.

Give away your old appliance to a repair shop, or training school so that they can practice repairing it. Most cities accept hazardous waste and electronics for recycling.

Avoid buying the things you don't need and avoid hoarding. You can save a lot of money by having only things that you really need. If your stuff is piling up then it is time to donate your things. Free cycle, Recyclers Exchange and Craigslist can be your savior for a clutter free home. Make it a habit to donate or recycle things when you don't use anymore.

More Than Bottles and Cans: Five Ways to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle on America Recycles Day

Yesterday marked America Recycles Day, the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Organized by Keep America Beautiful, America Recycles Day is a time for each of us to think about our level of personal waste and to consider ways to reduce it.

Every year since 1980, the rate of Americans who recycle has increased. And, as most of us know by now, recycling is about more than just bottles, cans, newspapers and magazines, although recycling all of those is important! New innovations -- along with some tried and true methods -- allow us to easily recycle more than just those items required by law. Today, think about what you can do to decrease your own environmental impact and make the "reduce, reuse and recycle" mantra a part of your daily routine.

Here are five ways to get started:

The Rise Of Poorly Made Solar PV Modules

SolarModules

Has the pressure to compete in a world market beset by an equipment glut and plummeting prices over the past two years led to an increase in poor quality solar panels?

Delray Beach Recycling Efforts

Recycling in the Beach

At home, it's easy: trash goes in the can and recyclables in the blue bin.
In public places, however, such as the beach and parks, recycling is not yet an established habit.
But in Delray Beach and four other cities in Palm Beach County, a recycling program for public spaces is out to change the people's perception of what goes in those elusive blue bins.

Highland Park Recycling efforts are Amazing

Recycling Initiatives

Highland Park officials said the city's recent plastic foam recycling effort has resulted in the collection of 4,417 pounds of the common packaging material.
"That's a lot of foam," said City Council member Steven Mandel, who pushed for the program.
The city launched its foam recycling effort in 2011 after officials previously considered a band on plastic foam products, such as food carryout containers. Plastic foam, or polystyrene, is commonly referred to by its trademark name, Styrofoam.

Benefits Of A Clean Office

Cleaning an office can sometimes take up a lot of your time and money. Doing it yourself can be fun but you need to focus on the real work and not to be distracted by clearing the rubbish and emptying the trash. I suggest that you hire someone to clean and clear your office for an efficient job that can lead to a lot of savings since you won't have to buy useless cleaning agents and equipment's.

 Cleaning Experts

Stop the worrying and start looking for a cleaning company. Have a schedule and plan what things to be done inside your office. Be able to schedule the cleaning time where people are less in the office. Let them handle all the cleaning work and machines since they have this many times. Make sure that they are a clearing company you can trust and honesty is their main values.

Savings on Hiring a Clearing Company

 You don't have to hire an extra employee anymore by hiring a cleaning company. You can relax and stay completely focus on your business. Try to have a longer contract with the cleaning company for savings if you are satisfied with their performance.

Health is Wealth

 A clean Office can also lead to a healthy employees. No more dust and rotten food that makes your workers sick. The healthier they become , they have less time for sick days for an efficient service.

Cleanliness can attract More Customers

 First impression counts especially for your customers. A dirty office workplace can tell a lazy and inefficient company which can sometimes cause a client from backing out. Plastic campaign signs shouldn't go in recycling cart

When political candidates and their volunteers go out Wednesday to pick up all their campaign signs — as we’re sure they plan to do — remember this: Many of those signs are made of corrugated plastic that is not readily recyclable. So don’t toss them in a city smart cart or a county recycling bin.

Instead, haul them out to the county’s solid waste facility (7550 Apalachee Parkway) or Marpan Recycling (6020 Woodville Highway). The county will re-purpose corrugated plastic signs; Marpan will bundle them off to companies that do recycle these materials.

Of course, campaign signs can be tossed in with garbage, which is dumped in the landfill. But some might say that’s wrong in a world where we try to reduce the amount of garbage we bury.
